About the Artist

Renée Zangara lives and works in St Johns, at the edge of town, on a peninsula surrounded by the Willamette and Columbia rivers where the Baltimore Woods and Willamette River are part of her daily experience. Since moving here, she has become deeply aware of the dynamics related to the river. It nourishes vast amounts of land, animals, and aquatic life. This integral component to a complex of transport systems is also, ultimately, an energy force that affects and is affected by everything.

Renée is truly amazed by the visual abundance and vital connections she witnesses. At any given moment she can look up and be gobsmacked by an enormous load-bearing barge pushing its way past her line of sight. Or, she can visualize river water seeping into the ground and making its way up the bluff to feed the neighboring woods and her flower bed abuzz with garden deities and an array of assorted and colorful blooms.

Renée understands that a drop of river water is the essential link that connects barge to bloom. Agog is a collection of deeply personal work illustrating a handful of the life energies swirling around out here on the edge of town. Renée is represented by MaryAnn Deffenbaugh of Vernissage Fine Art Consulting. Learn more about the artist: https://reneezangara.net
